Sheet Metal Finial

.

AKA: ~

Location: Milton, Delaware

Additional Information: A Finial is a stylized form which emphasizes the uppermost point of a spire, pinnacle, gable, ridge, tower, turret, cupola or other vertical building element. Finials also can be found terminating flagpoles, at the end of curtains rods, on bedposts and securing lamp shades.

The root word Fin or Fini denotes finishing and this is exactly what a finial does. Today's example is charged with two types of finishing; it is both artfully crowning the tip of the conical roof it adorns
and weather sealing it as well.
